SHORELINE SUMMER CHAMBER MUSIC WITH NASH BAROQUE

The period music ensemble, Nash Baroque, is pleased to offer two performances of Les Gouts Reunit or Styles Reunited, a program of lovely 18th century music of the French and Italian Baroque.

Former Guilford resident and baroque flutist, Vicki Melin joins cellist Hannah Collins, period violinist, Daniel Lee, harpsichordist, Ruth Mckay, and guest soprano, Sarah Reed to form the Nash Baroque Ensemble, which is dedicated to performing chamber music of 18th century France and Italy. The program is named after Francois Couperin’s 1724 publication of works that artfully aimed to unify French and Italian musical styles of the period.

From Vivaldi’s delightful cantata, “All’Ombra di sospetto”to the theatrical “Huitieme Concert” by Francois Couperin, the concert includes the cantata “Ariane et Bacchus” by Michel Monteclair and Joseph Bodin de Boismortier’s playful “Ballets du Village”.

The Nash Ensemble – named after after Thomas Nash, a Guilford Blacksmith, follower of the reverend Henry Whitfield, and signee of the Guilford Plantation Covenant of 1639 – is comprised of members who are performers with international recognition as soloists, chamber musicians and specialists in music of the baroque period.

Les Gouts Reunit is being presented in Guilford by Christ Epicopal Church’s Concert Series, Concertato and in Hamden by the Unitarian Society of New Haven.
