No School for Guilford Public Schools Wednesday, Feb. 13

Guilford Public Schools will remain closed Wednesday, Feb. 13 due to road conditions. According to their message, many of the town's roads are still inaccessible to buses, and require clearing and widening.

The following is a message from Guilford Public Schools Communications Coordinator:

Dear GPS Community:

Guilford Public Schools will remain closed on Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Despite everyone's best efforts and around the clock work, many of our town's roads remain inaccessible to buses. Guilford has more than 200 miles of road that has required clearing and widening.  We remain in close communication with Town officials as Public Works crews continue to work to clear snow and widen roads. Every effort is being made to open our schools as soon as it is safe and reasonable to do so.

School Calendar Revisions Effective February 12, 2013
After careful consideration, and the knowledge that we may face additional emergency closing days this winter, we have decided to make the following adjustments to the 2012-2013 School Year Calendar:

Tuesday, February 19th - Regular School Day for Students and Staff
Thursday, March 28th – Regular Day for Students and Staff

Students unable to attend school on either of the above dates due to a previously scheduled commitment, will receive an excused absence. Upon returning to school, students are asked to provide a written note from parents with a brief explanation with the reason for their absence.

These new revisions adjust our last day of school and Guilford High School Graduation to Tuesday, June 25th.

In the event we have more emergency closing days, they will be made up on June 26th through June 28th as needed.  Additional emergency closing days will be made up during April vacation, beginning at the end of the break (April 19th, April 18th, etc.) as needed.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to make our decisions based on the safety of our students and staff.
