Alex Beckett, of Guliford High School, scored two points at a Guilford High School JV Basketball game earlier this week. He is the first student athlete with an intellectual disability to play in a high school game in the state of Connecticut.
Check out this great video of Alex scoring for GHS earlier this week. He was a starter in the game and scored Guilford's first points of the game.
Alex has been a Special Olympics Unified Sports athlete in Guilford for four years.
Congratulations Alex!
The Unified Sports program is offered in schools through SOCT's partnership with the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC). The Special Olympics Connecticut Unified Sports® Program brings athletes with and without intellectual disabilities together to play sports, gain physical fitness, develop friendships and demonstrate appreciation and respect for each other both on and off the playing field.
