News and updates from the campaign trail in Connecticut.

Third District

Rosa DeLauro (D) is planning to visit the Pennslyvania Globe Gaslight Company in North Branford on Monday. She said on Twitter, “Manufacturing is crucial to CT's econ, middle class.”

Wayne Winsley (R) plans to attend a forum on Oct. 30 at 12:30 p.m. at the West Haven Senior Center.

Fourth District

The Hartford Courant called the Fourth District race between Jim Himes and Steve Obsitnik, “largely tame and cordial” compared to the heated race in the Fifth District. The Courant notes that the key differences between the two candidates is pertains to the economy.

Fifth District

Elizabeth Esty doubled down on her support of “Obamacare” in the hopes it will win her the election. According to CT News Junkie, Esty spoke in support of the Affordable Care Act at a press conference.

Her opponent, Andrew Roraback, hopes to repeal the law.

Senate

The Nov. 6 elections are almost hear, and both Linda McMahon and Chris Murphy are doing what they can to win over female voters.

According to Reuters, McMahon rarely mentions her tenure as CEO for World Wrestling Entertainment. Murphy has described McMahon as anti-abortion, but doesn’t focus on the WWE.

Reuters reports:

A Quinnipiac survey released this week suggests Murphy might be winning the argument. After weeks of polling neck-and-neck with McMahon, he was ahead 49 percent to 43 percent, and taking a double-digit lead among women.
McMahon's campaign pointed to two other polls that called the race a dead heat.

Rosa DeLauro: “Manufacturing is crucial to CT's economy, middle class.” Unfortunately, because of legislation that DeLauro supported, businesses like Pennsylvania Globe in North Branford (which she’s visiting to drum up votes) soon will be penalized for expanding. Rosa DeLauro promised us that ObamaCare was not a tax. The Supreme Court has now said it is a tax. Here’s just PART of how this tax increase on the middle class and business works: Right now, there’s a $5,000 Federal limit on contributions to your employer’s healthcare flexible spending account (FSA): amounts you contribute to the FSA plan are subtracted from your taxable salary. However, starting in 2013, the maximum annual FSA contribution for each employee will be capped at $2,500. Right now, you can claim an itemized deduction for medical expenses paid for you, your spouse, and your dependents—to the extent the expenses exceed 7.5% of Adjusted Gross Income (AGI). However, starting in 2013, the amount is raised to 10% of AGI. Mercifully, if either you or your spouse is age 65 or older at year-end, the 10%-of-AGI threshold will not take effect—until 2017. (Remember, seniors: DeLauro gives you a break for 4 years—THEN she crushes you with this new tax.) The ‘individual mandate’ requires virtually all citizens to buy health insurance meeting minimum federal standards or pay a tax ["fine"] if they refuse.

Businesses already have said they will lay off workers or reduce them to part-time to avoid providing health insurance. The NON-PARTISAN Congressional Budget Office on Obamacare [March, 2012]: “Fewer people are now expected to obtain health insurance coverage from their employer or in insurance exchanges; more are now expected to obtain coverage from Medicaid.” Very few specialists take Medicare or Medicaid because these programs pay so poorly. (Seniors: does this sound familiar?) And the main way in which ObamaCare is being funded is by reducing payments to healthcare providers even more: from the current rate of 80% of private insurance reimbursement down to 40%. That’s what “Health Care Reform” REALLY means: reducing costs by penalizing providers—and subsequently throwing more citizens under the bus. “We possess neither the expertise nor the prerogative to make policy judgments. Those decisions are entrusted to our Nation’s elected leaders—who can be thrown out of office if the people disagree with them.” The Supreme Court, June 28, 2012, on ruling that ObamaCare is legal—because it’s a tax. So the best way to dump this budget-busting, deceptive, tax-disguised-as-healthcare? —dump Rosa DeLauro! And replace her with WAYNE WINSLEY. http://RosaDeLauroExposed.wordpress.com/

Rosa collected well over a million dollars this election, the MOST EVER. This is likely her last hurrah, the last time she can rob her supports to enrich herself. Most of this money will be paid to her husband, which in any household means Rosa is paying herself. She is slipping, having to use a binder of notes to give answers to ordinary questions. She is getting tired of being the DNC attack dog, accomplishing nothing legislatively. She will want to retire to her sumptuous villa on the Amalfi Coast. So, this final haul of fat cash will pad her fantastic lifestyle going into retirement. Congratulations to the suckers who contributed: you proved your absolute loyalty to the party machine. But Rosa's cashing out and running with your money to southern Italy. But not before launching a couple of salvoes against her hated enemies... just for old times' sake. At the same time, Wayne Winsley is working hard to represent the people. His loyalty is to the people of third district. He is for term limits, to cut the connection between greedy, rich incumbents and the corporate special interests that are choking our political process. Want change? Change our incumbents. Elect Wayne Winsley!
