Video: 3-Year-Old Chase Enjoys Backstage Pass at Guilford Fire Department

Chase Capasso, winner of Guilford Fire Department's 'Help Us Help You' contest, cleared 7 hydrants and enjoyed his prize Monday afternoon, which included a tour of the firehouse, a ride in a fire truck and more!

Monday was a big day for Chase Capasso- as the winner of Guilford Fire Department's 'Help Us Help You' contest he got to enjoy an afternoon at the fire station. Accompanied by his mom, Marissa, dad, Joe, grandmother, Kathy, and baby brother, Landon, Chase got a tour of the fire equipment, met the Captain and the Fire Chief, was presented with some special awards, and got a ride around the station in a fire truck- sirens and all.

"He loves everything that has to do with being a fireman," said Marissa Capasso, Chase's mom. "We read books about them, and he knows everything there is to know about the different trucks, and the equipment, he loves it. He's going to be talking about this day for a long time."

But three year old Chase earned his big day at the fire house- he helped out the Guilford Fire Department by clearing seven fire hydrants in town after the Blizzard of 2013. In doing so, he became the winner of GFD's 'Help Us Help You' contest, which asked residents to pitch in to help clear of hydrants.

"I started the contest for something fun the residents could get involved in that would promote safety, and help us out," John Planas, Guilford Firefighter/Paramedic told Guilford Patch after the contest began. "We figured residents were stuck in their homes, kids were off from school."
