Two Guilford Police Sergeants Complete Command Training

Sergeant Timothy Bernier and Sergeant John O'Brien, both of the Guilford Police Department, recently completed a two-week training program for police supervisory personnel.

Two Guilford Police Sergeants, Sergeant Timothy Bernier and Sergeant John O'Brien recently completed a two-week comprehensive training program for police supervisory personnel at The Justice System Training and Research Institute at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I.. The program conducted through a partnership with the New England Association of Chiefs of Police

The course, “Command Training Series: First Line Supervisors Course,” addressed "contemporary concepts of management and leadership relevant to the responsibilities of first line supervisors in a modern criminal justice agency," according to a press release. 

The program, which ran from April 1 through April 12 was presented by experienced academics and law enforcement practitioners. It discussed "topics including operational leadership and management principles, problem-solving, organizational and interpersonal communications, labor relations, disciplinary issues, and ethical decision making," the press release explained.

Graduates of the session represented police departments from throughout New England.
