After today's tragic events in Newtown, CT, Guilford School Superintendent Paul Freeman reassures residents that all security procedures are in place in all of Guilford's school facilities. This message was recently posted on the town's Facebook Page:

In light of the tragic events in Newtown, CT at Sandy Hook Elementary School today, the Superintendent of Schools Paul Freeman wants to reassure everyone that all security procedures are in place in all of our school facilities. All exterior doors remain locked in all school buildings. A buzzer security system is in effect in the elementary and middle schools. This is standard procedure. At Guilford High School, a staff member is stationed at the main entrance to admit visitors. All physical education classes and recesses are taking place indoors today. As an added precaution, the Guilford Police Department will maintain a presence at each of the schools through dismissal times this afternoon. Please be assured that the safety and security of students and staff is always our most important concern. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families and our colleagues in the Newtown School System.
