Guilford Man Charged with Enticing a Minor to Engage in Sexual Activity

Guilford Police took a man into custody for allegedly soliciting sex with a 15-year-old girl Wednesday.

Edwin Nealon, 21, of 98 Leetes Island Road, was arrested and charged Wednesday with enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity.

On Wednesday night, Nov. 14, at approximately 4 p.m., Nealon was arrested and charged by members of the Guilford Police Detective Unit, according to a press release. Charges included two counts of criminal attempt including the use of a computer to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity, risk of injury/ impairing the morals of a child, and interfering with an officer.

Nealon's case began back in October 2012, when police said he contacted a party he believed to be a 15-year-old female child via the Internet. Based on information gained during the investigation, police determined that Mr. Nealon was planning on meeting the the female party in Guilford Wednesday afternoon.

Undercover detectives from the Guilford Police Department set up surveillance in the area Wednesday, and Mr. Nealon arrived shortly after to allegedly meet the potential victim. He was taken into custody without incident. Detective Tim Bernier, Detective Fred Hill, and Detective Sgt. Jeff Provencher made the arrest.

According to the press release, Nealon was processed and released on a $20,000 bond. He was given a court date of Nov. 27, at New Haven Superior Court.
