Sandy emergency responses are wrapping up here in Guilford as the Emergency Shelter closes down, power outages wrap up, and Halloween is rescheduled for this Friday, Nov. 9th. Yesterday, the town provided this information for residents:
This will be an abbreviated note since we are nearly back to “normal operations."
Power Service and Restoration:
As of Sunday morning, C L & P is reporting restoration of 90% of Guilford has occurred.
All Main Backbones have been restored.
All remaining damaged circuits are being worked on Sunday.
They are estimating that “substantially” all of Guilford will be restored by 6 PM Sunday evening (all but maybe 2%).
The remaining 2% will be COMPLETED by 6 PM Monday evening.
NOTE: Even though your service has been restored, you might experience a “temporary outage” which should not exceed 1 hour, as power loads are being re-balanced through the system.
IF it appears your neighbor to the left and right of you have power and you do not, CALL C L & P at 800-286-2000, there might be a particular service issue from the road to your home / business impacting service.
Although the Community Center has been acting as an Emergency Shelter all week, Emergency Shelter Services are being TERMINATED at 5PM Sunday, Nov 4.
A SPECIAL THANKS to Rick Maynard and his team at the Community Center, and to the MANY Volunteers who supported the Emergency Center.
Guilford Public Schools:
ALL SCHOOLS will be OPEN for students on Today, MONDAY, Nov. 5th.
Additional information about the School Schedules can be obtained through their website and communication vehicles.
ALL Normal Voting Locations Will Be OPEN TUESDAY Nov 6, 2012
The Celebration of HALLOWEEN throughout our neighborhoods will occur on FRIDAY, Nov 9, 2012.
