2013 Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Update Comment Period

Press Release: For Immediate Release NEW REGIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PLAN OPEN FOR PUBLIC COMMENT Regional Economic Xcelleration (REX) Development has begun a 30-day public comment period for the draft update of the South Central region’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). This draft plan is a culmination of over a year’s process by municipal, business, resident and non-profit leaders in the region. Every five years, the region is required by federal regulation to complete a significant update to its CEDS. This CEDS builds off the region’s original CEDS that gained approval in 2003, and was previously updated in 2008. This process, overseen by REX Development’s Strategic Planning Committee, is an opportunity for the region to assess the state of its economy, identify strengths and weaknesses, and develop a concrete, actionable plan for addressing the most pressing needs. REX Development is a public/private partnership dedicated to promoting economic growth in South Central Connecticut. As a partnership between fifteen local governments and the business community, REX brings together top business leaders and chief elected officials to promote a cohesive, regional approach to economic development.
