Heavy Rains, Local Flooding Expected This Weekend

With rainfall of up to 4 inches possible in some areas, a flood watch will be in effect for most of Connecticut from late Saturday night into early Sunday evening.

With heavy rains expected to set over the region this weekend, a flood watch has been issued for most of the state of Connecticut.

The watch goes into effect late Saturday night and will run through to early Sunday evening.

The steady rain will begin moving in by Saturday afternoon, with the heaviest precipitation expected to fall Saturday night into Sunday morning.

"Rainfall of 2 to 3 inches, and locally up to 4 inches, could cause flooding of small streams, as well as significant urban and poor drainage flooding," National Weather Service meteorologists stated in their report.

After this weekend's heavy rainfall, however, the skies clear up — and most of next week looks to be mostly sunny and warmer, with daily highs in the 50s.
