Tips on How You Can Simplify Your Financial Life

Connex Credit Union encourages others to make their financial life easier in honor of
National Simplify Your Life Week, August 1st – 7th

For some, managing your personal finances can be overwhelming and complicated, but there are some proven methods that can help make things a little easier. The first week of August is National Simplify Your Life Week and Connex Credit Union suggests these tips to help save you time, money and organize your finances.

Online Banking: Using a service such as online banking can help you make it easy to check your balance or make account transfers. Nearly all financial institutions offer this to their customers.

Sign up for Electronic Statements. By using electronic statements you can easily and securely access your statements with the click of a mouse. This can help you easily review your finances and identify areas where you need to reduce spending.  Paper statements can also lead to clutter and must be disposed of securely to avoid identity theft concerns.

Use an Online Bill Payment System. By using an online bill payment system with your financial institution, you can pay all your bills from a single, simple-to-use site. By scheduling recurring payments you can avoid late fees and save time.

Use a Debit Card Instead of Checks. If you’re thinking about writing a check, just swipe your debit card, enter your PIN or sign and you’re done, plus you’ll be helping the environment by eliminating the need for paper.

Set Savings Goals. This can prove to be the most challenging, but even if you take a small percentage out of your weekly pay, set up a separate account for an emergency fund, vacation or college. You’ll be surprised at how fast it all adds up. Make this process simpler by setting up auto transfers with your financial institution.

“Setting goals and having a little discipline goes a long way with personal finances,” said Amy Stanton, assistant vice president of marketing, Connex Credit Union. “There are lots of free online tools that can also help you reduce debt, create a budget and stick to a plan. As a member-owned financial institution, Connex is always working toward improving the lives of our members.”
